Fall Protection
Make Fall Protection a Priority
OSHA statistics show that each day an average of two Americans fall to their deaths at work resulting in $170 billion in medical costs, wages and lost productivity each year. But companies that engage in safety best practices can reduce those injury and illness costs by 20% - 40%...and fall protection devices are a great place to start.

WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS?
Regulations require that fall protection be provided at elevations of four feet in general industry workplaces (OSHA 1926), five feet in shipyards (OSHA 1910), six feet in the construction industry and eight feet in longshoring operations (OSHA 1918). In addition, OSHA requires that fall protection be provided when working over dangerous equipment and machinery, regardless of the fall distance.
To prevent employees from being injured from falls, employers must also:
- Guard every floor hole into which a worker can accidentally walk (using a railing and toe-board or a floor hole cover).
- Provide a guard rail and toe-board around every elevated open sided platform, floor or runway.
